About Us

As a schoolteacher I taught in a special school for disturbed children. I trained with the Philadelphia Association in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and phenomenology, and from 1974 I practised psychotherapy in London, and worked also as a therapist in voluntary sector households that I helped found for adults who had become severely disturbed.

I opened my Taunton practice in 1985. In the 1990s I chaired the Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy for six years, and was External Relations Officer for the UK Council for Psychotherapy for three. I started an ongoing series of seminars entitled All About RelatingI closed my Taunton practice at the end of July 2013 and moved to Dartmoor National Park.

I am a founder member of the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

I have served on the Training Committee of the Exeter University Psychodynamic Training. In Taunton I helped develop the Somerset Counselling Centre. In 2001-2 I did an eighteen-month placement in the NHS Child Adolescent and Family Therapy Service, Bridgwater. In 2004-5 my wife Carol and I completed the Foundation Training in Family Constellations with what was then called the Hellinger Institute Britain.

More recently, I am a founder member of the Climate Psychology Alliance. Please look at the website.
